Is there more?
Okay, so sorry for posting this if this has been posted in the past but I didnt see any posts similar..
So, I've been playing guild wars for a couple days now and I'm seriously wondering about its depth..For now I love the game, excellent graphics and fun quests...but it seems almost like a console RP and much unlike the MMO's I have played in the past, it seems highly main quest oriented so I'm begining to wonder what will happen when I ultimately finish the main quest? Seems to me like once that happens my interest will fast expire, though I am only lvl 14 and just arrived in Lions Arch not long ago so I'm asking for the opinion of someone further along than I. |

after you reach level 20 I belive you can go to PVP with that guy and play there, or you can explore since it is quite a big world.

Its not supposed to be like other MMOG's. Thats the whole thing. You've played, as you said, a few days. Level 14? Have you taken time to simple enjoy and explore the game? You can follow yourself through the main storyline - sure - when you complete it, You are still going to have a sea of secondary quests you can do, areas you can explore and PvP things you can then do. Not to mention there WILL be expansions to the game - this isnt it. Levels in GW - unlike other games - mean nothing. Just because your level 20 doesnt mean your game is done. Much of the story and stuff available in the game comes AFTER level 20 and from my understanding the stuff that is released in expansions will be oriented to the higher levels or "end game". |

20 is just the beginning
most of the content is post 20 there are 25 missions (non pvp) to start there are 60-70 explorable areas (non pvp, not small) to start with additional content to be added by streaming in from GW Guild Wars, in contrast, is based around your skill as a player. Our maximum level is twenty and you hit that very quickly, after about 20-30 hours of play. ,We call that 'The Point of Ascension'. Almost all of the content in the game and in the future Chapters is only available to Ascended characters, which means we don't have to worry about providing different levels of content. All the good stuff will be available to everyone. It's not our intent to force people onto the levelling up treadmill, so the level cap in Guild Wars is almost meaningless. |

exploration
Exploration is one of the things I love most in a game, I actually came from SWG were the game worlds are so immersive and immense that if you had no map you could easily get lost for a long period of time, so naturally exploration was one of the first things I attempted to do.
From the moment I opened up my in-game travel map I could see that this world was huge but that is an illusion as you cannot explore it all...for instance I set out from yaks last night with exploration in mind and guess what? the trails lead you to the ascalon foothills, to whatever pass and/or off to the NE a little ways..that's it. The deep S of the mountains doesnt really exist and neither does the North, what fun is it if you cant actually explore except were is needed for various missions? |
